Whose Corn Are You Growing?
Letting Go of the Judgmental Gaze
Roger: Most of my troubles center around what others think of me.
Murshid: Learn to let go of the judgemental gaze.
All the while a farmer tended his near barren field, he looked longingly at his neighbor’s copious corn. The thought of not growing as much hurt him, but the looks from the successful farmer hurt even more. Each morning the man would smirk at him and wave. “How dare he taunt me!” thought the failed farmer.
One day during harvest season, his neighbor paused while filling his wheelbarrow full of perfect corn. As he waved with his usual smirk, the failed farmer threw down his half rotten ears.
“Stop torturing me with your greater success! I’m so sick of your judgement!”
“What judgment?” replied the neighbor. “I’m just glad to see a fellow farmer working his field beside me.”
