Difficult Teachers
The Need for Painful Lessons
Roger: I like that Sufis find so much spirituality in nature. There is such peace here on this path.
Murshid: Yes, but sometimes it’s too easy to feel enlightened when you’re alone.
A student like you had his mystic teacher all too himself. One day a new student appeared, more humble and eager to learn. The first student became so jealous, he focused entirely on his peer instead of the teacher. Finally, he had enough and started to walk away.
“Why are you leaving?” asked his murshid.
“I came here to learn from you, not fixate on him!”
“Fool, this new student is your greatest teacher.”
Pin the tale: Who is your most challenging ‘teacher’ today.

Fire my greatest teacher is fire today
It took all I own now I must surrender to it to live !
Argh what an uncomfortable truth! Thank you for it.
